The fine print, in plain English

Terms & conditions.

Last updated: July 2026

These terms apply when you use this website or register for a class with Home Star Courses. By completing a registration you're agreeing to them. They're written in plain English on purpose — if anything here is unclear, email admin@HomeStarCourses.com and ask.

Who we are

Home Star Courses is a Tennessee-based continuing education provider approved by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC), offering live CE classes for Tennessee real estate licensees. Classes are taught by Matthew Parsons, a practicing REALTOR®.

What we provide

We provide live, instructor-led continuing education — delivered on Zoom or in person — and we report completed hours to CE Broker as the course sponsor. Our classes are educational. Nothing taught in a class or published on this site is legal, tax, financial, or brokerage advice, and none of it is a substitute for your own professional judgment or your broker's guidance.

Registration and payment

Registrations are handled through our checkout and processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number. Prices are in U.S. dollars and are listed on each class page. Seats are limited — for live online classes, typically 50 — and are allocated when payment completes.

Each registration admits one named attendee. Please don't share your Zoom join link or attend on someone else's registration: attendance is verified individually for CE credit, so a shared link means neither person can be credited reliably.

Registering on Zoom is a separate, required step

Paying for a class does not by itself register you on Zoom. After checkout you'll receive an email containing a Zoom registration link for your specific class. You must complete that Zoom registration to receive your personal join link. It takes about 30 seconds.

If you don't receive that email, check your spam folder and then contact us — well before class day if possible. We can't credit hours for a class you weren't able to join.

Attendance and CE credit

TREC requires verified attendance for the full session before continuing education hours can be credited. Arriving late, leaving early, or being absent for part of a class can mean no hours are reported, regardless of payment. We'll tell you what's required — including any camera-on or participation requirements — before class begins.

We report completed hours to CE Broker as sponsor, typically within five business days of the class. We're responsible for reporting accurately and on time. We don't control TREC, CE Broker, or your license record, and we can't guarantee how quickly a third-party system displays or processes your hours. You remain responsible for confirming your own CE compliance and license status.

Course approvals and CE requirements change. We keep this site current to the best of our ability, but you should always verify current requirements directly with TREC rather than relying solely on our summaries.

No guaranteed outcomes

We teach practical skills and tools, and we're proud of the results our students report. We don't promise business results, income, transaction volume, or any particular outcome from attending a class. What you get out of it depends on what you do with it.

Refunds, cancellations and transfers

These are covered in full on our refund & cancellation policy page, which forms part of these terms. In short: full refund if you cancel 24 or more hours before class; transfer or credit inside 24 hours; no refund or credit for no-shows.

Course materials and recording

Class content, slides, handouts, checklists, and other materials are the intellectual property of Home Star Courses and are licensed to you for your own professional use. Please don't record, republish, resell, or distribute them, or use them to teach your own classes, without our written permission. You're very welcome to use what you learn in your own business — that's the point.

We may record classes for attendance verification, quality, or compliance purposes. If a class will be recorded, we'll say so.

Third-party services

We rely on outside services to operate — including Zoom for live delivery, our payment processor for checkout, our email provider for class communications, and CE Broker for hour reporting. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy practices, and outages or changes on their side are outside our control. If a third-party failure prevents you from attending a class you paid for, contact us and we'll refund or transfer you.

Website use

You may use this site for its intended purpose: learning about and registering for our classes. Please don't attempt to disrupt it, access areas you're not authorized to reach, or scrape it at a volume that affects other visitors. We may update, change, or remove site content at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Tennessee law, our total liability arising out of or relating to a class or your use of this site is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the class in question. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses — including lost business, lost profits, or license consequences arising from your own CE compliance decisions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Association, brokerage and private classes

Classes booked by a REALTOR® association, MLS, or brokerage are governed by the written agreement or invoice signed for that engagement, which takes precedence over these terms and over our published refund policy where they differ.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force for your registration is the one published when you registered, and the "last updated" date above tells you when this version took effect. Material changes won't be applied retroactively to a class you've already paid for.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, and any dispute relating to them will be handled in the courts of Tennessee.
